Processing time

Orders are processed and shipped within 48 hours of purchase, Monday to Friday. You will receive a confirmation email as soon as your parcel leaves us.

Shipping rates by region

We ship worldwide from Ontario, Canada. All amounts below are in Canadian dollars. If you are shopping in another currency, the amount is converted at checkout using the current rate, so the number in your cart may look slightly different.

Everywhere else: please read this before you order

We do ship to the rest of the world, including South Africa and the rest of Africa, most of Latin America, and the remaining countries in Asia and the Pacific. We would rather serve you than turn you away. But we want to be straight about what these routes are actually like, because they are not the same as our other regions.

No carrier we can reach offers an affordable tracked service to these countries. So at checkout you will see two options and you choose which one suits you.

Standard, $19.99 to $36.99 depending on weight. Air mail, no tracking at all, and typically four to eight weeks. Once it leaves Canada we cannot see where it is and neither can you. It almost always arrives, but if it does not, there is no trace to follow. Choose this if the cost matters more to you than certainty.

Tracked and insured, $114.99. Full tracking from door to door and typically one to two weeks. Yes, that is more than the socks cost. It is what the carrier charges us for a tracked parcel to these countries, and we are not adding a margin to it. Choose this if the parcel is a gift, if it is going somewhere post gets lost, or if you simply want to be able to see it moving.

United States orders: duty is already paid

Every parcel we send into the United States is shipped duty paid. We clear it and pay the import duty before it crosses the border, and that cost is already built into the prices you see on our US store.

So there is nothing to pay when your parcel arrives. No customs bill, no brokerage fee at the door, no parcel held until you pay. What you see at checkout is the full amount.

We are being open about why US prices sit higher than our Canadian ones. Cotton socks made overseas carry a real import duty into the United States, and since the rules changed we are required to prepay it on every parcel regardless of order size. We would rather include it in the price than surprise you with a bill from the courier.

Why United States shipping is priced by weight

We ship from Ontario, Canada. Every parcel crossing the border carries a customs clearance charge on top of postage, and postage itself climbs with the weight of the parcel. A single pair and a five pair gift box do not cost us the same to send, so rather than one flat rate we use three weight bands. Checkout works out which one applies to your cart.

Distance inside the United States turns out to matter very little on this route. New York, Dallas and Los Angeles all price within about a dollar of each other, and Hawaii and Alaska cost the same as California. So we do not split the country into regions. Everyone pays the same band for the same parcel.

Because we prepay duty on every US parcel, this is the most expensive route we run, which is why there is no free shipping threshold for the United States at the moment. If that changes, this page changes with it.

Orders outside the United States

For every destination except the United States, the shipping fee you pay us covers postage only. It does not include customs duties, import taxes, VAT, GST, brokerage fees or any other charge your country applies when the parcel arrives.

• These charges are set by your local customs authority, not by us. We cannot see them in advance and we cannot control them.
• They are billed to you, the recipient, usually by the courier before delivery.
• Gripbelle does not cover or reimburse them.
• If a parcel is refused or abandoned because duties were not paid, we cannot refund the order or the shipping.

Whether you get charged at all depends on your country, the value of your order and current rules. Many small orders arrive with nothing to pay. Some countries, including Brazil and India, apply import charges more consistently and more heavily than others. If you are unsure, check your own country's import threshold before you order. Canadian orders ship domestically and never attract customs charges.

Delivery and tracking

• Rates are calculated at checkout based on your address and the weight of your cart.
• Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, our Asia Pacific list and the tracked destinations above are all tracked, and tracking is emailed once your order is processed.
• Everywhere else, tracking depends on which of the two options you picked at checkout. The standard option has none.
• Delivery times are estimates from the carrier and are not guaranteed. Customs holds can add several days and are outside our control.

Wrong address or a missing parcel

Please double check your address at checkout. If a parcel is returned to us because the address was incomplete, we can resend it once you cover postage again. If tracking says delivered and you cannot find it, check with your building and your neighbours first, then email hello@gripbelle.com and we will help you chase the carrier.

On an untracked standard international order there is nothing for us to chase, which is why we set that out plainly above.

Returns

Socks are an intimate item, so for hygiene reasons every pair is final sale. If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, email us within 7 days of delivery and we will make it right. Full details are on our returns page.
